In January 2008, a Bell County jury awarded the family of a woman killed in an automobile accident more than two million dollars. The verdict came at the conclusion of a two week trial, described as “one of the biggest trials to hit Bell County, Texas.” The Bell County District Attorney had a special interest in the case and shortly after the civil verdict, proceeded with criminal charges against the Defendant. Prior to trial, General Motors was dismissed pursuant to a confidential agreement.
